I recently ran out of a few things so I briefly went shopping on Sunday morning. I’m happy that Shoppers Drug Mart now carries Nyx, its a great option for those of us who want quality but aren’t willing to dish out Sephora price tags! I picked up a few drugstore products to test out.
Nyx Micro Brow Pencil $12
I’ve heard that this is a dupe for the $27 Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz pencil. Let’s be honest, I’d rather use the $15 in price difference to buy coffee! Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of shade selection and I have ambiguous eyebrows that can’t be pinned down. I chose Auburn, which ended up being a few shades too light & orange for me. In hindsight Chocolate would have been a better shade for me. I have reddish brown hair but I’m a natural blonde with dark eyebrows.
Nyx Studio HD Concealer $10
I chose Alabaster which is a little bit more pink toned than my skin but in theory makes it perfect for hiding under-eye circles. I will probably go with the shade Porceline if I repurchase.
Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation $10
Unfortunately Superstore didn’t have any shade testers for Dream Velvet so I tried to choose based on the shade of the bottle. Warm Porceline 05 was the lightest shade in stock (and the second lightest of the range). It ended up being more pink than my skin tone. Luckily, with a light hand and a bit of blending it doesn’t look too obvious that it’s not an exact match!
Essence Gel Eyeliner $3.99
My Essence waterproof liner pen finally dried out so I decided to try out a new medium. I wanted to see if I liked gel eyeliner before splurging on anything high end. I haven’t used it much yet, but it’s creamy and has so far been workout proof which is awesome! Eyeliner can be a drag but this applies easily with an angled brush.
