Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream Review

Hello everyone! I hope you guys aren’t sick of Pixi reviews. If you are I’ll totally slow it down but a lot of you told me that you were interested in hearing my thoughts on the products in my Pixi Rose Infused Skintreats PR Haul. Two weeks ago I posted a review of the Rose Cream Cleanser, which I also included in my January Favourites. I didn’t write a February Favourites last month because I’m still loving the EXACT same things from January! Today we’re talking about my favourite product in the Pixi Rose Skintreats line, the Rose Ceramide Cream.

The Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream became a fast favourite for me and will be repurchased as soon as my tube is empty. Want to hear why? Keep reading!

Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream Review

This ultra-rich cream is infused with Ceramides and Rose Oil to deeply hydrate the skin for a healthier, more supple appearance and feel. Antioxidant-rich botanicals help to improve skin’s elasticity while protecting against environmental aggressors. — Pixi Beauty

The Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream retails for $24USD and contains 1.7oz of product. This may seem rather expensive given that Pixi is at the drugstore, but honestly I feel that Pixi is more of a midrange brand than a drugstore brand. The packaging is nicer than typical drugstore items and the products are generally high performing. I think that Pixi would be considered very reasonable if sold at Sephora. What makes the brand feel expensive to me is seeing the brand display next to a shelf of $10 moisturizers at the drugstore.

So What Are Ceramides?

I’m going to include some information that I shared in my original haul post: According to  Paula’s Choice “ceramides are lipids that are found naturally in high concentrations in the uppermost layers of skin. They make up over 50% of skin’s composition [and] play a vital role in determining how your skin looks (and how it responds to environmental threats).” The article also goes on to say that ceramides “hold skin together by forming a protective layer that limits moisture loss and protects against visible damage from pollution and other environmental stressors”

FYI I love Paula’s choice for skincare info because they cite their sources. Not enough people do this.

Packaging

The Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream comes in a foil squeeze tube. Unlike a plastic tube this one compresses/crushes in on itself when you use it so that all the product gets pushed out. There is less lingering product stuck to the sizes of the bottle because of this. The only problem with these types of tubes is that if you squeeze too hard there’s no going back. You can’t put product back in the tube so what’s done is done. I don’t make this mistake very often thankfully.

I love the green & pink colours on the packaging and the little rose drawing on the front. This is a pretty bottle and the pink rose aesthetic makes it a nice addition to my skincare tray. I’m a sucker for nice packaging!

Performance

The Rose Ceramide Cream has a rich texture that feels amazing on my skin. It’s thick but has never left my skin feeling heavy or greasy. My skin is dry as a desert right now so it’s drinking in all the moisture it can get. I think that the Ceramide cream might be a little too hydrating for me in the summer months of the year but I’ll absolutely use this through the driest parts of the year. I haven’t had any dry patches on my cheeks since switching to this moisturizer.

The smell is a little different than the other products in the Rose Infused Skintreats line. I’m not really sure why, but I don’t mind. It’s floral but I don’t think it smells nearly as rosy as the rest of the collection.

I haven’t experienced a breakout since switching to the Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream. In fact, I broke out when I switched to a mini pot of Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser from my advent calendar but not when I switched back. My skin is happy when I use this moisturizer. My previous HG moisturizer was the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream for Extra Dry Skin but because of it’s gel texture it tended to pill under makeup. I have no pilling issues with the Rose Ceramide Cream so Pixi has knocked Neutrogena out of the ring. Pixi is also cruelty free, unlike Neutrogena.

What’s your favourite Winter Moisturizer?

I adore the Pixi Rose Ceramide cream and I’m grateful to Pixi for including me on their PR List. I don’t think I would have picked this up in the first place without having tried it first. Now that I have I know that I’ll be repurchasing it. It’s a great moisturizer for dry skin in the winter. Thanks for reading, Talk soon! x

Ooo, I’m looking for a new moisturizer. This sounds super nice & as always with Pixi, I love the packaging. That’s awesome they made it so you can squeeze out every bit but, I do agree Pixi should switch to Sephora or Ulta. $24 is pretty hefty for drugstore!

I’m so sad I ran out of this one this week! I hoped that it would be available at Shopper’s Drug Mart but they don’t stock the full line. I’ll have to buy directly from their website which is a bit unfortunate.
I wish they were at Sephora or Ulta too!

Aww! Hopefully Shopper’s will stock it someday if they keep getting positive reviews on it!
