Hey everyone! You may remember seeing this Pür X Boxycharm palette in my Boxycharm unboxing last month. I was excited for it because of the vibrant magenta and shimmery blue shade in the bottom row. Unfortunately the formula didn’t hold up quite as I expected. I’ve seen some beautiful looks using this Pur X Boxycharm palette on instagram but after trying several times to make the formula work for me l’m left unimpressed.
Pür X Boxycharm Palette
At A Glance
The Pur X Boxycharm Palette retails for $36USD at Pür’s website. It contains 12 eyeshadow pans containing a mix of matte & shimmer shades. Pür products are cruelty free, vegan and free of Parabens.
The Pür X Boxycharm palette is made of sturdy cardboard packaging with a magnetic closure. It has a decent size mirror which makes me happy. The Boxycharm theme in March when the palette was sent out was “Baecation” and the size of the mirror makes this a feasible travel palette. The shade names are printed under each eyeshadow pan.
In the Boxycharm promo photos for this palette the eyeshadow pans looked a lot different than they did in person. Immediately I noticed that all the orange shades in the palette are very similar. There are two matte orange shades which are very close in hue to each other, and then almost identical versions of those shades in a shimmer finish. I found this really annoying because those orange shades are all you have for transition shades. I would have liked to see a matte light brown or something similar.
There’s a light shade to set eye primer with or highlight the brow bone as well as a matte black base with purple glitter. The blue, Mia, truly looks beautiful in the pan as does the magenta pink, BFF, but the bottom row of the palette is the only one to actually inspire me.
Pigmentation, Fallout & Blend
Let’s talk pigmentation: The shades swatch on the skin extremely well. The mattes and the shimmers both pack a punch and pop on the eyelid. Squad is probably the least pigmented shade in the palette for me, it doesn’t apply well to the eye.
The problem with these Pür eyeshadows is that something in the formula makes their longevity terrible. They blend away to nothing. For example, I’ll apply that beautiful blue shade, Mia, that swatches so well on my arm and once I’ve blended the outer corners the blue pigment has already dulled. No matter how I prime my eyes or apply the shade, wet or dry, these eyeshadows don’t last more than a few hours on me.
The shimmer shades are no exception. The shade Charmer is absolutely stunning when swatched on the arm but when I apply it to my eye whether it’s with a wet brush or my finger it doesn’t look as nice. It has a ton of fallout under my eyes and looks patchy once applied and worked around.
I do really enjoy the black shade, Boxy Black, in this palette. It makes a really good eyeliner for when I want a softer black line.

Once again I created a tutorial video on all three looks 😉
Look #1: Blue Hawaii
I was using shimmers again so I didn’t set my eye primer for this look. It seems to be the way to go when using the shimmers in this palette, but it means I need to be more careful when blending. I started with the shade Nakey in the crease. Next I took the shade Mia and applied it in the inner and outer corners of my eyes. In the center of my eyelids I applied the shade Alliance. In the outer corners is the shade Duet.
Look #2: Daytime Glam
I always like to include one wearable daytime look with each review. For this look I tried to make the shade Charmed work for me. It seems like it would make the perfect lid shade, but I found it really hard to work with. I didn’t set my eye primer because I wanted to leave something for Charmed to grip too. Otherwise it would blend away. In my crease and slightly above is the shade Nakey. In the lowest part of my crease is the shade Duet, swept lightly. All over the lid is Charmed and in the furthest part of the outer V is the shade Boxy Black.
Look #3: Magenta Mood
First I set my eye primer with Pürrfect. Next I applied the shade Belle In the crease. Slightly below is the shade Bae. All over the lid is the shade BFF. I had to build this up a bit but I do like the amount of pigment I get with this magenta pink. In the outer V I used the shades ATL and Duet. Just for fun I popped the shade Mia on the lower lash line.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this palette. I dislike more than 50% of the shades because they don’t last on my eyes even when using my HG Urban Decay Primer Potion. This eyeshadow palette is a prime example of why swatches mean absolutely nothing. They look great on my arm but they don’t perform well enough on the eyes for me to justify $36USD. If I had bought it myself from Pür’s website I would be looking for a refund, but because it came in a Boxycharm it will sit sadly on my shelf collecting dust.
