I have been dying to try out the Makeup Revolution Soph Extra Spice Palette since I got it in the mail but I was waiting until I could film a first impressions video. It’s so hard waiting sometimes, I always want to dig right into my brand new palettes. The Extra Spice Palette is a collaboration between Revolution Beauty (or Makeup Revolution, Revolution Pro, whatever their brand name actually is) and Soph Does Nails. I saw so many great reviews on her first collab palette with MUR but the Soph Extra Spice palette called to me more. It’s probably all the Autumn orange and yellow shades!
Revolution X Soph Extra Spice Palette
YouTuber Soph Does Nails has whipped up, prepared and designed another revolutionary eyeshadow palette, featuring 18 handpicked extra spicy shades. A vivacious variety of shimmer and matte shades suitable for everyone. Wrapped in shiny rose gold and matte nude packaging. — REVOLUTION BEAUTY
For $15 USD this palette is huge! I love that the front of the palette is like a rose gold mirror and has Soph’s signature on the front. It’s gorgeous! The Soph Extra Spice Palette contains 18 shades. 12 of those 18 are matte shades which is awesome, I love having more mattes than shimmers. Don’t get me wrong, I love my metallics & shimmers but mattes make a full look. I can easily make an every day look with just the mattes and use the 6 shimmers for some Extra Spice! S’cuse the pun…
I’m loving this colour story, it looks so interesting to me! As I said those oranges and yellows scream fall vibes, but there’s also a cozy blue, purple and a shimmery silver! This palette has so much potential! I’m going to cook up a storm with all this spice! (ok, I hear you. Enough with the puns xD).
In all honesty I prefer the Extra Spice palette to the Emily The Wants Palette. Not that I don’t like that palette, it’s good, but the shades in this MUR palette are much more unique to my pre-existing collection.
The shimmer shades in the Soph Extra Spice Eyeshadow Palette are the bomb! Do people still say that? Dear God I feel old. Well I said it. These shimmers. Are. The. Bomb. I’m obsessed with the silver shade Infinity, it is so stunning! It will be gorgeous when I start creating blogmas looks in December, it screams holiday to me.
But since we’re in Fall I really wanted to dig into those oranges. It killed me not being able to dig into this palette the first morning that it arrived because I was working on something different for my blog and I needed to use another palette, but the second day I got my hands dirty. Quite literally, I swatch makeup all over my hands whenever I play with new palettes!
Soph Extra Spice Palette Makeup Look
The makeup look I created for my blog with the Extra Spice Palette was completely different than the look I filmed for Youtube where I used just about all of the makeup from my Makeup Revolution Haul. I absolutely love how this look turned out! I can’t wait to play with these colours again in the coming weeks and when I write my full review on the MUR Soph Extra Spice Palette. This look is all about those oranges, and is heavily inspired by the look Allie Glines did on YouTube with the ColourPop Good Sport Palette.
