Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream Review

I’ve been searching for my perfect eye cream for years. I’ve tried bad eye creams, ok eye creams and eye creams that I love but I still keep thinking that “the one” is out there. When I ran out of my favourite Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye Cream I decided to try something different again, and after sorting through hundreds of reviews I settled on the Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream. It has a 5 star rating and the packaging is so cute! How could I not?

Saturday Skin is a brand that I’ve seen all over instagram but I don’t see talked about too much in the blogging community. The brand website is bright and fun, and I love that Saturday Skin is vegan and doesn’t use parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance or synthetic colour in their product. I was definite excited to give the Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream a whirl!

Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream Review

The Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream from Saturday Skin retails at $57CAD and contains 1oz of product. It claims to reduce puffiness & dark circles and smooth fine lines & wrinkles. $57 may sound expensive but it’s actually a pretty good deal in terms of eye creams.

The Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye Cream retails for $49 but only contains half the product so it actually compares at $198/oz. The Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream also compares at $198/oz. Other comparisons are the C-Tango eye cream from Drunk Elephant which also only contains 0.5oz of product and thus retails for $156/oz (holy crap).

I actually had a hard time finding an eye cream sold at Sephora that had a better value than the Saturday Skin Wide Awake. The closest comparison I found was Clinique Pep-Start, which retailed at $33 for 0.5oz and thus compared at $66/oz. I feel pretty damn good about picking up a bottle of Wide Awake!

Packaging

First things first, the packaging is adorable! This is the first eye cream that I have ever used that had a pump. The lid comes off to reveal a little pump which disperses the perfect amount of product. This is such an improvement over squeeze tube eye creams. I hate nearing the end of the product and having to bend the tube in weird directions to get the last few drops out.

Honestly I think that even if this eye cream had only contained 0.5oz of product like most other creams the price would be worth it for the dispenser.

That being said the bottle is a little large for containing only 1oz? An ounce isn’t a huge quantity so I’m sure they wanted to make the packaging look like it contained more. It’s not the end of the world but it is maybe a little wasteful.

Texture

The texture of the Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream is between a gel and a cream. It reminds me of my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Creme moisturizer in terms of texture and I Love It.

There’s no rubbing or tugging on the skin when I apply the cream to my under eye area and eyelids. It absorbs super quickly but leaves the area feeling hydrated despite the quick absorption. I had issues using the Clinique Pep Start eye cream because it never actually made my under eye area feel hydrated. I have no such problems with Wide Awake.

Performance

Okay, so we’ve talked texture. The Saturday Skin Eye Cream has a lovely consistency that absorbs & hydrates nicely. What you’re probably wondering though is does it actually reduce fine lines & dark circles?

Firstly, it does a great job of reducing puffiness. There was one morning that I woke up with awful bags under my eyes because my husband kept shifting in his sleep onto my side of the bed… I must have woken up six times during the night because at one point I woke up with an arm on my head and other times with no blankets… it wasn’t a good night.

The Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream did a great job of reducing and smoothing the puffiness in the morning, I was impressed. I think drinking coffee might have helped too, but I can’t confirm that. The gel-cream is cooling to the touch which feels amazing under my eyes.

I don’t think that the Saturday Skin eye cream reduces fine lines but it does smoothe them. I don’t know if there’s a single product in the world that can actually undo the aging process but you can definitely find creams that lessen the look of lines & texture. Wide Awake does just that. I had weird texture that formed under my eyes when I was between eye creams and within two weeks the texture was gone leaving behind smoothe skin. The lines are still there, they just aren’t as obvious.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that Saturday Skin makes a fabulous eye cream. For the price I am impressed. My texture is gone, my fine lines are smoother and my under eye area is hydrated.

There are still dark circles that need to be brightened up with concealer but the fact that my texture & puffiness was greatly reduced is enough to give me the confidence to go about my day without makeup.

I will definitely be repurchasing the Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream in the future, I think I just found my HG daily eye cream. I’ll still be repurchasing the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye Cream for evening use.

What’s your favourite eye cream?

Let me know if you’ve tried the Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream and if you had a similar experience to me. I don’t regret a penny of this purchase and I’m so glad I could find an eye cream with a great value. Thanks for reading, Talk Soon! x

I hadn’t heard of this brand before! Their packaging is super cute & I love the pump-style of the bottle. So smart when they make things bigger than need be lol I never pay attention to the actual amount of product I’m getting. 😛 So awesome how well this worked for you, Cleia! Great review, as always!

They’re online only, I’ve only seen them on Sephora’s website before. I wish that all eye creams had a pump, it seriously makes everything better! Thanks for reading Hunida!

Great review! I use the Shiseido WrinkleResist24 at night which is my holy grail eye cream, BUT it is expensive and too creamy for daytime, so I’m always looking for a good daytime eye cream! I’ve been mooching off of my husband’s tube of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery since he is inconsistent with using eye cream and will never get through it. This sounds like a great, less expensive alternative! Thanks for bringing it to the forefront, I’ll need to test it out in stores!

Oh right, I think you’ve mentioned that eye cream before! I need to pick up a sample one of these days.
The midnight recovery eye cream is good too! I’ll have to repurchase eventually, but for now I need to stop spending so much money haha
I hope you’re able to try it!

I am using a deluxe sample of a shesiedo (spelling?) eye cream, and i love it. I don’t know if I would ever get the full sized one, but you definitely piqued my interest with this one! Since you and me both have dry skin, I also look forward to your opinion on skincare! Great post xxx

I wish this eye cream wasn’t only available online at Sephora, or else I would tell you you should pick up a sample! I really like it, the texture is nice and cooling.
I don’t think I’ve tried anything from Shesiedo – I also don’t know what the proper spelling is haha
