Hey everyone! I hope your week is treating you well, whether this is the middle of your work week or you’re a crazy shift worker like me and the days of the week mean nothing. Today’s post is supplemented by a video, I was testing out a Beauty Scene makeup kit from London Drugs that a friend got me for Christmas.
Beauty Scene 181 Piece Makeup Kit
This Beauty Scene Makeup kit retails for $20 currently, and I know it wasn’t the $50 full listed price at London drugs during Christmas time because our gift budget was only $30! It contains 112 mini powder eyeshadows, 18 cream eyeshadows, 12 cream concealers, 2 bronzers, 2 blushes, 30 lipsticks, 1 eyeliner, 1 lipliner, 2 eyeshadow applicator sponges, 1 lip brush and 1 blush brush. Basically everything you need for a complete look minus foundation and brows.
I’m always skeptical of value sets from the drugstore, especially when it’s a brand I’ve never heard of and can’t find much information on. BUT, I gave it a fair shot. The video below is my full face first impressions of this Beauty Scene makeup kit! I also included two different looks below.
Beauty Scene Makeup | First Impressions
For this video I used some browns and red shades. It didn’t go exactly as planned, there are some discrepancies in the formula between eyeshadow pans. I had trouble getting full pigment out of a lot of shades. The blushes and bronzers turned out to be way to loosely packed and made a mess!
Cold As Ice
I tried out the bottom two rows of blue shades for this look. I had to experiment with several different combinations because some of these shades barely showed up at all on my eyes. It seems for every one shade that performs well there are four others that are chalky and blend away to nothing. I found a few vibrant blues that worked well, but the light blue shades in the palette were useless so I went into the ColourPop My Little Pony Palette for the icy blue shade in the inner corners of my eyes.
I used one of the bronzers in the kit as well as a lipstick!
Green With Envy
Since I did a blue look I naturally had to go and create a green makeup look! The top row of the eyeshadow palette is all green variations. Unfortunately a muted green was all I could get out of these shades even though I used the most vibrant green in the palette. I liked the way the look turned out but I was disappointed that I couldn’t get the full pigmentation I was wanting from Beauty Scene. I also popped on a cream shadow in the centre of the lid which turned out to be a mistake, it creased on the lid so bad!
Which look is your favourite? Have you heard of Beauty Scene Makeup before?
Thank you so much for reading/watching! Let me know if you watched the video and what you’d like to see on my channel. Please remember to like & subscribe! <3
Thatβs a huge palette! And that sucks that the formula wasnβt the same across the entire palette. Those are usually disappointing. And a lot of shades donβt often look the same as they do in the pan, that has happened to me many times. I do like the look you did with the blue shades though,

It’s giant! I was actually so overwhelmed when I first got it, I tried to swatch every shade on my arm but I didn’t have enough room xD
I wish the quality was better but yes those blue shades were nice!
Omg haha Iβve had to swatch my palettes by rows because trying to fit 20 shades in my arm never works out well.
I too feel like value sets are an excuse to gather all the bad formulas in one and call it a great deal. I have a similar palette at home and every single powder item be it eyeshadow, bronzer or blush are extremely powdery and the lip products are just fine. I did like the look of the lipstick on you, it looked very creamy and pigmented. The shades of the eyeshadows do look nice so maybe if you like them you could use some kind of coloured base underneath to intensify them? Great post as always! <3

Haha yeah it’s hard to know if you’re compromising quality for price. The formula is really inconsistent for the shadows, there are a few buttery and creamy shades but most are very chalky. It helps to use a lip liner under the lipsticks, I’m going to need to try a few more shades and see which ones are ok.
That’s a great idea, I’ll need to try that out! I have a NYX jumbo stick I could use as a base π thanks!
I’m with ya, value sets like this aren’t usually my thing! I do really like your blue look though! xx

Thanks! π The blue was my favourite out of the three
Oooh I like the icy blue look! π»
Iβve never heard of that brand! I think Iβve only bought a value set once and it was an Ulta set. Itβs on my closet floor so Iβm really getting good use out of that! π

Thanks! That was my favourite too, though I think the green and red looks are more wearable for daily life. I’m sure an Ulta set would be good!
So happy to see your review for this! π I saw them at London Drugs too and have been so curious as to if they were any good π€ plus they were right beside the NYX stand at the time and I wondered if they were comparable in any way.

I’m glad this review could be helpful to you!
I don’t think that it’s really comparable to NYX, but it’s not bad, especially for the price π
I watched your video too hehe! Itβs definitely not close to NYX in quality :p it would be great for someone just starting out in makeup maybe.

Aww thanks! π
Yeah NYX is way better! I can see this being good for beginners but once you’ve used great quality shadows it’s hard to go back
Whoa, that is a MASSIVE set!
I hear ya, girl, I totally don’t trust drugstore value sets either – like there’s gotta be a catch when a set that big retails at less than the price of a lipstick at Sephora, am I right? But doesn’t hurt to try – sometimes you never know if you might find gold!
With that being said, I really love the looks you created! Even though you struggled with the products, it doesn’t LOOK like you did, haha. The green eye is my favourite! I love how well it goes with the peachy blush.
On a side note, I agree with Melina, I appreciate that the video is just to supplement your blog post, and it’s not just a “hey, here’s a blog post to share my video with you!”

Isn’t it!? And I thought the too faced natural love palette was overwhelming π
Haha I would probably not buy it on my own but it was super nice of my friend to get it for Christmas! I have so much fun trying out new things π
Thank you!! As I said I had to dip into the MLP palette for the blue look and I did spend a lot of time building up the green. It’s funny that look creased so bad on the eyelid but my mother in law was like “this is the best makeup ever!” π
Yay I’m glad you both love the format! I want to provide something different in the videos vs blog posts. I feel cheated when I click on a blog post and it turns out to just be a video π
I love the way that you’re formatting your blog posts. I like that you add a video, but it’s not the whole post. When it’s slow at work, I read through posts, but I can’t actually watch a video at the moment. I’ll definitely be watching it later on this week, but I just have to mention, that I love the way you’re doing it! xx

I always feel cheated when I click on a blog post and find out it’s just a video π I never want to have just a video or replicate exact the same content between both.
I’m the same way, when I’m not at home I still read blog posts with the WordPress app but I’m not always able to watch a video.
Thanks for letting me know you like this format! π
