I *think* I’ve finally found a good dry skin routine for winter time. It only took me most of the season to figure out that cleansing milks and cream cleansers are pretty much the way to go for me. There is one exception to this rule, one that surprised me when it arrived on my door step. The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser has been a part of my nightly skincare routine since the day it arrived and I don’t plan on changing it any time soon!
The Inkey List sent over thier Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser and Omega Water Cream for me to try recently and I put them to the test! Let’s talk about the cleanser.
The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser Review
The Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser from The Inkey List contains 150ml of product and retails for $12.99 CAD. I love reviewing products that are affordable and easily accessible. This was the price point I was shopping at when I was in my late teens & early twenties. I couldn’t afford pricier products so I always keep that in mind when planning content. I do splurge on more expensive brands sometimes but I think it’s important to share those drugstore priced brands like The Inkey List and Good Molecules!
The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser is a lightly foaming cleanser clinically proven to be non stripping. It contains, you guessed it, a 1% hyaluronic acid complex. It also contains 1% inulin to help support a healthy skin barrier.
I usually don’t care too much about fancy ingredients in my cleansers because I immediately wash the cleanser off. I have a hard time believing that any actives can work in the cleansing phase. However, TIL addresses that with their Hyaluronic acid complex which Inkey says is “made through fermentation which has been chemically modified to contain cationic (positively charged) groups, meaning it sticks to negatively charged skin even after it has been washed off”. That’s really interesting to me! Also my eldest cat is named Ion… Because he’s so pawsitive. True story.
The formula of The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser is somewhere between a gel and a milky cream consistency. It kind of reminds me of the CeraVe hydrating cleanser, only it foams slightly on the skin. I had a hard time wrapping my head around non foaming cleansers, I know they work but in my mind my skin isn’t clean unless there are bubbles. I’ve gotten used to using non-foaming cleansing milks in my a.m. routine, but in the evening I like something that foams a little bit so I feel that all my make up has been effectively removed.
The product foams lightly on the skin, but doesn’t whip up into a bubbly froth. It satisfies the part of my brain that thinks clean skin must have foam but doesn’t strip my skin. My skin feels soft and clean after washing my face and it doesn’t have any of the tight, dry feeling that I get when a cleanser is too harsh and removes all of my natural oils.
With this cleanser (and most cleansers, for that matter) I find that I need to go in before or afterwards with a dedicated makeup remover to get all of my mascara/eyeliner off. I find that the cleansers that completely remove my eye makeup are way too harsh for my skin, and tend to leave it feeling tight and squeaky clean.
I do actually think that the hyaluronic acid in this product is doing something for my skin. Last year I learned that it’s best to apply hyaluronic acid directly to damp skin instead of drying off your face beforehand. It makes a big difference now that I’m doing this. Since this cleanser is used in conjunction with water it stands to reason that it would help draw more moisture into the skin.
Have you tried The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser?
5/5 I recommend this cleanser I’d you have dry skin like me. I will repurchase when I run out! Another product from The Inkey List that I recommend is their Oat Cleansing Balm, as you get sooo much product for what you pay and it’s such a soothing formula.
I’ve seen a few people comment on instagram that they found this product kind of boring, but for me I just need my cleanser to be functional. If it works I’m happy!
Thank you to the brand for sending the product over, all opinions as always are my own. If you want to hear my thoughts on TIL’s new Omega Water Cream my review will be up very soon! Thanks for reading x
