Spring Sephora Haul

Today I have a short little Sephora haul of what caught my eye this Spring. I don’t really do hauls very often anymore, and when I do I keep the haul under $50 and stock up on things that I’ve run out of. This time I wound up returning one of the products I purchased because it just didn’t work out for me. That’s the problem with online shopping right?  Continue reading

My New Holy Grail — Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer

Hey everyone! As promised, I’m finally reviewing the mystery moisturizer I’ve been raving about since March! As part of Elle Canada Grand Prix I was sent a few products to blind test, so I had NO idea what most of them were. All I knew was that out of the four day creams I tested out this one was by far my favourite. It’s just that good! Now that my blind reviews have been submitted I was able to pry off the super sticky labels and find out what it was I’ve been loving for the last two months! Continue reading

Ipsy May 2017 “Summer Friday” Unboxing

Welcome back for another Ipsy Review! The theme this month is Summer Friday, and clearly they were going for a beach vibe. The bag this month is a cute clear plastic bag covered in ice cream cones and popsicles! It was even wrapped in pink tissue paper when it arrived this month, which was a nice touch. I’ve noticed that I’m not getting the card inserts half of the time anymore.  Continue reading

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream Review

Back in February the Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream popped up as an Ipsy reward. I had been debating purchasing it anyways and it retails for $49 CAD, so it was really awesome that I could snag it for 600 points! I’ve been using it twice daily for about two months now, so it’s time to share my thoughts… Is it worth the $49?

Garnier Fructus Moisture Lock Shampoo + Conditioner Review

As promised, here is the first of my reviews from the products I received from Elle Canada! Elle generously sent a number of people a box full of products to blind test for the 2016 Grand Prix, and I have officially completed my test periods and submitted my logbook. That means that I was finally allowed to peek under the labels to find out what products I have been using for the past two months! The first Shampoo & Conditioner Duo I tried out was Garnier Fructus Moisture Lock.

Claims: This shampoo & conditioner contains “citrus protein, Vitamins B3 & B6, fruit & plant-derived extracts and strengthening conditioners”. It also is paraben free. It claims to provide 48 hour moisture while strengthening hair, and also says it will provide weightless, soft, and shinny tresses.

Smell This is one of the most important criteria for me that makes or breaks a shampoo. Luckily, this one passed the test! It smells very fresh and while it’s not overpowering, it does linger. And I love it. I couldn’t place the scent during the testing period, but I knew that it smelled fruity. Now that I know what it is I can tell you that it has Cactus extract, which may be what I am smelling in this Shampoo!

Cleansing When I used this shampoo I noticed that it cleansed almost too well. It lathered extremely well, and upon rinsing my hair felt very clean  — squeaky clean. My hair definitely felt like some of the moisture had been stripped away, and my hands tangled in my hair after rinsing.

Smell This has the same wonderful smells as the shampoo. I loved how it lingered in my hair afterwards!

Conditioning Power Okay, so after I have now complained about how my hair felt stripped slightly after using the shampoo, let me tell you that this conditioner reversed that feeling completely. This conditioner is thick and creamy and did a great job of moisturizing my hair so it felt soft again. Despite the thickness of the formula my hair didn’t feel weighted down at all after use.

Hair when Dry When my hair dried I had so much volume! I know this isn’t really marketed as a volumizing shampoo, but my hair was incredibly light and bouncy afterwards. It’s perfect for this thirty degrees weather we’re getting up here in Western Canada. My hair felt clean, moisturized, and didn’t feel greasy or weighted down.

Final Thoughts

Despite the shampoo almost being overkill in cleanliness the conditioner balances it out nicely. I find myself reaching for this a lot now that the testing period is over. I need to look and see if there is a colour treated version of this shampoo so I can preserve my hair colour. This is also an inexpensive shampoo, On Garnier’s website it is listed for $4.50 USD, but I did see it at Safeway in Canada for $3.99 last week!

Ipsy May “Summer Friday” Reveals are up!

Hey everyone!

Ipsy reveals are up for May. The theme this month is Summer Friday. Which is kind of fitting, all of a sudden spring weather arrived and it’s been plus twenty degrees the past couple of days! I finally turned the furnace off in my home. It’s not technically summer though, so I’m surprised the theme isn’t more Springy.  Here’s my May glam bag reveal:

First, let’s talk the bag. It’s a clear makeup bag with little ice cream cones all over it. It fits the theme well. I’m not sure I’ll use it much, but it’s not bad at all.

Now, onto the products.I must say I was really disappointed to see the Manna Kadar Bronzer + Highlight. I received the same product in a Topbox last summer so it’s not new to me. In fact, I’ve seen it in just about every beauty sub in the past year. The product just didn’t work with my skin tone. It will be a long time before I open the IT mascara, but I like IT cosmetics so it’s okay.

I’ve never heard of Cailyn Cosmetics, but I definitely was like YAY when I saw that I am getting a nude toned liquid lipstick! The shade of nail polish I’m receiving is almost the exact same as the one I got last month, so I’m not too excited about that, but I am thrilled about getting a Luxie brush!

Spring Project Pan – Monthly Update

Hey loves! At the beginning of April I set aside all of the products you see here and decided I was going to do my best to “hit pan” on them! In other words, I want them gone by the end of spring! Here is my first monthly update on how it’s gone so far.

Arbonne Makeup Primer This primer had maybe 10% left in it, and now I’m guessing 5%. I’m seriously so close to finishing it, but this bottle lasts really long time!

e.l.f. Matte Lip Crayon in Catwalk Orange I haven’t used this much. Maybe once or twice since putting it on this list, but to be fair, I’ve been wearing a lot of lipgloss instead of lipstick this season.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss Speaking of lipgloss, I meant to include this gloss in my original post but I forgot, I have about 1/3 of the product left in the tube.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Knockout Mascara I know I still have a tiny bit of mascara left in this bottle even after using it daily. I can never finish mascaras before their expiry date.

Giorgio Armani Eyeshadow Quad I’ve been using this a fair amount, but it doesn’t look like I’ve made much of a dent though!

Sparkle & Shimmer Eyeshadow Quad I’m doing poorly at using this one. The shadow is honestly really creamy and pigmented, I don’t know why I never think to reach for it!

Pixi By Petra Blush & Highlight Powder Duo I feel like I’ve used this almost every single day this past month but the pan looks exactly the same to me. This is the never ending blush apparently!

Chloé Perfume Sample I’m about halfway done this little vial, so maybe in a week or two I’ll be finished this perfume.

Pur~lisse Mango Lip Nourisher I’ve been carrying this around with me everywhere. It’s lived in my purse and on my night stand all month. I have about 1/4 of the tube left.

Crazy Rumors Hibiskiss Lip Balm Still working on this tinted lip balm!

Nyx Brow Gel I’m close to finishing this tube. When I pull the spoolie out the only new product on the brush is at the tip. There’s enough to comb through my brows and get the desired look, but I can tell the bottle is almost finished.

Borghese Fango Mud Mask Done! This was a single use mask so it was easy to use up, I just had to find the time to set aside to use it.

The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel Mini I also finished this. I wrote a little bit about it in my April empties post so I won’t go into detail.

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Body Lotion Mini I’m so close to finishing this! There is only a tiny bit left in the bottle. My problem with this lotion was that the product thickened after opening so I have to add a tiny bit of water and shake the bottle to get it back to a lotion consistency every time I use it.

Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream I had a similar problem with this moisturizer. The pump stopped dispensing product because of how thick the cream is. Anything that stuck to the sides would literally stay there and I couldn’t get anything out until I added a small amount of water to it and shook the bottle. The cream now applies beautifully, and the pump works again! I have about 1/3 left of the bottle.

Living Proof Dry Shampoo Empty! Now I need to get me some Batiste!

Aromance Citrus Blossom Body Spray This bottle is now just under half way full.

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment & Verb Ghost Oil I finished the Glam Glow treatment as well as the verb ghost oil. I was surprised at how much use I got out of the oil.

From the photos you can see that there isn’t much of a visual difference in the amount of product in my powder pans. I’m hoping by the start of June I can at least see the bottom of the Pixi blush pan!
